Had an instance like this just today, I should note that I’ve only been with this unit since December because the monitor though it would be funny to PCA me to the opposite side of base to one of the shittiest units imaginable with 4 months left on my 5 year contract which upon check in I was immediately labeled a shitbag because I have a different way of handling things and refuse to get treated like shit or treat my junior Marines like shit. Well I’ve got 12 days left til that glorious EAS (they denied my terminal so it’s straight to the prize), I went to my platoon sgt telling him I needed check out pros and cons so the CO would sign my shit to which case I was told it would be done by the end of the day (this was about 745 am). Around 430ish pm they called me in and gave me my shit which was 4.0/4.0, honestly I was perfectly fine with this wtf do I care I’m getting out. But they start explaining how they came to these markings stating lack of motivation, I wasn’t an MCI whore, tendency to be belligerent, low pft (they made me run one with 3 weeks left when final physical, va claim, and check out was all done/in process so I made a point to do the bare minimum, hopped on pull up bar 1-2-3 hey sgt 3 is the minimum required correct? yeah. alright cool I’m done. Found great humor in the fact they expected me to give a fuck). Anyways I let them do their little rant to which I replied “well gentlemen I apologize for constantly deploying when I see now that my priorities should have been focused on finishing the spelling and math for Marines MCI’s because circling bubbles on a piece of paper with the book in front of you makes real Marines. I’m also sorry that you failed in your efforts to turn me into a mindless drone like you’re doing to the other poor souls in this platoon but I had higher priorities to focus on that kept me occupied more than worrying about what my SNCO’s are gonna think about me. I however will not apologize for actually giving a shit about my Marines, mentoring them, and getting to know them on a personal basis instead of putting them at parade rest and screaming at them for running late to formation. I’m pretty sure I’ve learned more about who my Marines are and what they’re capable of in the 3 months or so that I’ve known them than you learned about them in the two years they’ve been under your charge. The reality is you could have given me 3.0/3.0 and you wouldn’t have affected my average enough to worry so I’m not tripping in the slightest, thank you for your time and if you are finished with me I have to finish checking out”. They didn’t like that at all and I had one try to pull the typical SNCO bullshit rank card so I took the ass chewing about being a disrespectful shitbag who’s gonna fail in life, etc, etc and went about my way. I actually regained some motivation after that and felt pretty content. They’ve all known my stance about putting up with bullshit since I checked in and know that I could boot check 75% of them any day of the week, these last 12 days can’t come soon enough. I will say that becoming a Marine is one of the greatest things I’ve ever done with my life but seriously fuck the bullshit, fuck the fat ass pog bitches who think their shit don’t stink and because they’ve been in a few years longer they’re a better man than I am, yet haven’t done/seen half of what I have in my “short time in”, fuck the hypocrisy, fuck it all they can have it. I know what I’ve done, I know who’s got my back, and I know who would stab me in the back with the flip of a coin. Rant over

I in no way shape or form even consider myself a “real” marine. I won’t lie I’m a fuckin admin clerk and don’t know anything about war or combat. I have to tell you tho that the bitches in the POG world are annoying as fuck because there full of fake motivation and try to act like their the hottest shit on the planet. They are the ones spitting out regulations and trying to act tough and put on the “I’m a (staff)sergeant I’m better than you” horseshit. I take great pleasure in knowing that I walk the line of disrespect and don’t put up with their dumb bullshit ass over compensating for never ever ever ever being a “real” marine ass chewings and wanna be hardcore attitudes.

How in the fuck does “hard work” not get you anywhere? Unless you’re a little rich fuck with daddy feeding you with a silver spoon, hard work is necessary for progression. This site is a fucking joke. Marines have fought and died for your freedom, and you fucking bad mouth them. You sir, are a poor excuse for a human being. That being said, SEMPER FI.

    • DevilPupHasNoIdea

“How in the fuck does “hard work” not get you anywhere?”

Hard work does not get you any where in the Corpse because the deadening mind numbing bureaucracy and tedium of the Corpse will make sure that the most pointless of things will stand in your way before your hard work gets recognized, if it EVER DOES. That is the point the article was making that you did not understand at all, Devil Pup.

“Unless you’re a little rich fuck with daddy feeding you with a silver spoon, hard work is necessary for progression.”

As was stated before this is not true in the Corpse. And humorously enough there are spoiled rich “fucks” as you call them in the Corpse. They are called Officers and they are about the dumbest human beings one can meet on the planet.

“This site is a fucking joke”

No, the idea of a redundant section of the Department of the Navy sucking out the lifeblood of the youth of the nation it pretends to protect as it dances in a pool of the common’s tax dollars while lighting them on FIRE is a joke, but that is the Marine Corpse for you.

“Marines have fought and died for your freedom, and you fucking bad mouth them”

Non-sequiter, just because SOME Marines died and fought for “my freedom” this does not mean they did do so effectively or with that intention. Most of the wars the Marine Corpse has participated in have not even been about the protection or extension of freedom, but rather the imposing of imperialism on this planet and its hapless people.

You sir, are a poor excuse for a human being. That being said, SEMPER FI.

Yut yut yut. Once a Marine always a Marine, so why reenlist? Errrrah!!!

      • Older Marine Vet

“They are called Officers and they are about the dumbest human beings one can meet on the planet.”

Well, as Older Marine Vet who was ENLISTED then earned a COMMISSION ( and worked pretty f**king hard to do it, since they won’t just give out LT bars to anyone who is DUMB), I could react pretty strongly to this ignorant and angry statement!!! – lets just say I understand the mission of this site and that USMC_POOLEE has a lot of learning to do.

        • DevilPupHasNoIdea.

Would you agree with the statement “Officers for the most partare unelected paperpushing bureaucrats,” ? Looking at the absolute nature of my statement I apologize to you Older Marine Vet, seeing as your positive presence on this website is a rebuke to the assertion that ALL Officers are dumb human beings. However I will not disagree with the idea that officers in the Standing Armies have historically been the greatest sources of classism and terrible strategy the world has ever known. I would prefer a Daniel Shays to a Joseph Hooker any day. And I am sure you would to.

          • Older Marine Vet

Your opinion overall is very angry and very narrowminded. As a LT in the Air Wing ( no way I was going to be a ground combat Officer- been an 0311 as enlisted) the systems and procedures set in place essentially FORCE YOU to become a “paper pushing bureaucrat”. Its not as if ranking LTS seek out more paperwork and bureaucracy!!

I can give numerous cases of how inefficient and bureaucratic some of the systems I had to work with in a Marine Aircraft Wing- things that no private business would tolerate if they wanted to stay in business!! One ( but definitely not the only!) of the stupidest memories I have was having to get 8 levels of permission to do a bulk order of replacement toner cartridges for the helo squadrons copy machines- a mundane task that was made so unnecessarily complicated due to government contract and acquisitions structure!

You are right in the fact that the Officer class of any branch of the military is a class system, but that has been around for hundreds of years. Requiring all Officers to be prior enlisted is not a bad idea, but shortchanges the military of a pool of well rounded and diverse people! I’ve trained with very competent and professional Naval Academy graduates, plus excellent candidates who had no previous military background.

Having research your historical references, I read about the life and exploit of two different military men with different career paths. Of course Shays is more noble in your eyes, but in life most times you don’t get to pick and choose who is going to be in charge of you.

    • NINJA_PUNCH

      That’s a really great question.

I know it seems counter-intuitive because, in most of the world, hard work really is rewarded. That’s simply not the case in the marine corps. In the marine corps, hard work gets is pretty much ignored, and written off as “just doing your job”. Meanwhile sucking up to superiors, cheating on the rifle range and PFT/CFTs etc etc, is a great way to get promoted. Hard work is optional, being a suck-up is necessary for progression.

Just so you’re aware, the vast majority of people on our site are current or former marines (don’t let your recruiter lie to you, there is such a thing as a “former marine”, I am one of them) many of whom have done at least one combat deployment. You badmouth the very same people whom you accuse us of badmouthing.

Stick around here a little bit longer. There’s plenty for you to learn here.

      Safety and Peace

    • mmafan3 .

No, poolee, The vast majority of us here don’t hate the Marine corps. In fact many of us loved it and gave every fiber of our being to it, but still got fucked with and fucked daily.
. I’m simply one of those who chose not to re-up and endure further abuse. .I hated the dicks who abused, degraded, demeaned and demanded respect from their junior Marines but couldn’t live up to their own standards.
It is not a crime to highlight what is wrong with the Corps..after all, problems can’t be addressed and remedied unless people speak up. I laud the creator and moderators of this blog for giving us this place to vent and speak freely.
What’s with the abusive response, poolee? Do you treat your men like this? I hope not, because once you lose the respect of your troops, you are finished. I’ve seen it too many times when I was in.
Just beacuse people here speak up makes us no less of a Marine than you are.

    • S.

Just because someone puts in the time doesn’t mean they’re working hard. You can work hard and get exactly nowhere if you don’t have a plan. hard work is thinking smart about your future and finding a career that will make you successful in the long run, like going to college for a specialty, or starting a business that you are confident in.

    • Thatguy

Your a poolee dude you dont even know what your talking about.

  • mmafan3 .

Sir or Ma’am..If you made it through boot camp and earned the title MARINE, you are no less of one than anyone else. Don’t listen and feed into the cockamammy bullshit

  • huntermarie

I hate marines, for the most part. My ex was one. He was also the most abusive man I had ever had the misfortune of meeting in my entire life- mentally, and physically. He was also a guy that if you ever told anyone this, no one would believe you. Especially not right after he puts on his confused expression, and asks “What are you talking about?” Even I thought he was such a nice guy. And then I lived with him. He has permanently ruined a part of my life- and that’s not something I’ve ever said, nor would ever say lightly.
